A Special Springtime Event || San Diego Portrait Photographer

UPDATED: We have our winner! Miss Melissa!! Thank you everyone who entered!
(and yes, this was a very scientific random name picker I found online. Originally, I wanted to put all the names in a hat and have my daughter draw one, but she is really sick tonight, so I had to fall back on this. ) Don’t forget to schedule your session in April to get FREE digital images!

Last week, all of my wonderful friends on Facebook helped me get to 1,000 “Likes”. What an amazing milestone!! I’m really excited for the things I have in store this year, and I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve received from everyone. So, to celebrate, I’m going to do two things: 1. Offer a special Springtime treat for photo sessions booked in April and 2. Giveaway a Springtime session! I love Spring here in San Diego…everything is so green and soft and beautiful…it’s the perfect time for a session!

Here’s the deal:
Schedule your portrait session (couples, families, kids, or senior) for the month of April, and receive your digital images FREE with your session. (That’s a BIG value!) But remember: I can only take a limited number of sessions per month, and April is starting to book up, so hurry to take advantage! (Session fee of $250 due in full at booking to secure your spot. Limited time offer – expires March 25th or when all available spaces in April are filled.)

To enter to win a Springtime session:
Just comment here on this blog post with your favorite thing about SPRING. (Told you I’d make it easy!!)
Giveaway is open to both my San Diego friends and VA/MD/DC friends as well. If you happen to book a session in April and are the winner, I will refund the session fee to you.
I will randomly draw a winner from all comments on this blog post one week from today: March 20, 2013 @ 7:00 p.m.

My fav thing about Spring would be the gorgeous California weather. I love taking walks outdoors, the flowers blooming, going to the beach, being able to wear sundresses. 🙂 Thank you for this opportunity! I hope I win! 😉

My favorite part of spring is my daughter’s birthday. Every year as the trees and flowers begin to bloom, I’m reminded of getting closer to my due date (3 years ago) and thinking about the budding new life within me as I watched the season turn to spring!

What I love most about Spring is Easter. =)

The flowers!! The flowers the flowers the flowers…did I mention the flowers? Tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, flowering trees, and so on. Gorgeous!

  • Stacy C03/14/2013 - 9:50 AM

I love the warm, but not yet HOT, temps, and just being able to take the kids outside to play without getting all bundled up or getting all sweaty in the first 5 mins. I also love that crisp spring feeling in the morning.

I love the spring because 10 beautiful springs ago I gave birth to my handsome son on march 20, 2003 now exactly ten years later spring lands on his birthday again. He was my first baby and spring bloomed when he was born he filled my heart with that special motherly love. I always remind him one of the reason he is special its because he was born in the spring. A fresh start with flowers ever the sir feels different and it energizes you motivates you to do more!

I love all the warm sunshine and enjoy being outside with my family– whether it is a day at the park, a run through the neighborhood, or fun on the beach!

  • Sara Griffin03/17/2013 - 2:10 PM

What I love about spring is longer days to spend outside, and in particular what I love about this spring is graduating with my masters!

  • Samantha Warren03/19/2013 - 9:43 PM

My favorite thing about spring is the weather and all the new spring blossoms. This will be my first spring in California and I am so excited! I’m even more excited that my husband will be coming home soon after 6 long months 🙂

  • Jen03/20/2013 - 8:33 AM

I love to watch the flowers and trees timidly bud, and then throw off the winter blahs and break out in a riot of color and beauty. A call to all to break out of your sorrows and old patterns and just revel in being a thing of beauty.

  • Christina Witherell03/20/2013 - 8:37 AM

My absolute favorite thing about spring is the increasingly longer days, using natural sunshine to light up my house from 7-7, finally getting to put on my sandals and pack up those socks, my twins birthday (omg, 4yo this year, thats nuts!), walks around the neighborhood with the kids, driving with the windows down and music up, playing at the park, stopping at random farm stands and of course the blooming of gorgeous flowers (minus the pollen)!! Happy Spring to you!!

  • Leslie K03/20/2013 - 8:41 AM

My favorite thing about spring is the planting of our garden. I love watching things grow and knowing that in a few months we will be reaping our hard work with delicious vegetables.

oh sweet Spring. in SoCal: i love the warmer breezes, longer days, sun sitting & lemonade drinking. in NY: i love that the snow plows are put away, crocuses begin to bloom and cornfields get plowed under.

Class of 2014 Spokesmodel: Alexa || Del Norte High School Photographer

I’m thrilled to be able to introduce our first Senior Spokesmodel for the Class of 2014, Alexa! Currently a Junior at Del Norte High School in Escondido, I know she’s looking forward to her Senior Year! A few weeks ago, she braved the cold winter morning for her first session, and she rocked it! You cannot tell it was barely 40 degrees outside! I am really looking forward to our Spring session. ?

Alexa brought a friend along for her session, and as I’ve said before – it really makes a difference! I love it when my seniors bring a friend along (I just don’t suggest more than 1 or 2 at the most!) Your friends know you the best – how you like your hair, what your favorite outfit is, and all the other stuff that makes you unique.  Having a friend there to give feedback and help you can make a big difference in the outcome of your session.

If you attend Del Norte, make sure you say HI! to Alexa, and be sure to ask her about her experience with Swoon Seniors by Powell Woulfe Photography! If you are graduating in 2013 or 2014, be sure sure to schedule your session now! As we approach grad season, the calendar fills up quickly, and you don’t want to wait for summer!!

Let it be me || Point Loma Couples Photographer

Did you see yesterday’s post with Part I of Becki + Mitchell’s session? Well, today I am thrilled to share Part II of their anniversary shoot! (And with another Ray LaMontagne title, of course!) This session was really like getting two totally different sessions in one. The locations were drastically different, as was the light and the feel. Our urban-decay theme from the first half of the session was in a stark contrast with the second half on the bluffs at Sunset Cliffs, complete with crashing waves, wind, and a pastel sunset. I just had to go with a slightly more vintage-y, romantic, dreamy feel for this part of the shoot. I love it! Thank you again to B+M for braving the cold with me! Love you guys!!!

You are the best thing || San Diego Couples Photographer

This weekend, I will be celebrating my sixth wedding anniversary with my hubby, so the timing of this post is pretty appropriate. 🙂 Last year, he was deployed and missed our first “milestone” anniversary, which I was pretty bummed about. I’m sure this year will be fabulous!

Anyway, I love how more couples are getting in on the trend of anniversary photography. Last year, I think I shot just as many anniversary sessions as I did engagements! And why not? It’s a great way to document each year, and the changes that come along. I had the privilege of photographing Becki + Mitchell a few weeks ago as they celebrated their FIRST wedding anniversary! Congrats, guys!!! The whole day was kind of amazing for me, too. It was President’s Day, and in the morning I captured a USMC homecoming, then I worked with Mitchell, who is in the US Navy. It was a pretty awesome Military Monday.

B + M are the most awesome couple ever. Really. We had a great time on our shoot, and I loved the ideas that Becki brought with her! Check out the super adorable chalkboard – with a line from one of their favorite songs a la Ray LaMontagne. I admit to listening to the album while I edited their session…it was just perfect! Here are some peeks from the first half of our session at Liberty Station.  I thought it was fitting that we snap some portraits in uniform at the former NTC! Second half from Sunset Cliffs to follow soon!

I love these. Of course, I should… my daughter is in the photos! Nice work Michele!!!! I can’t wait to see the rest. I have to admit that one of my favorites is probably the one of his cap covering their faces. 🙂
