Well, the May Gray is upon us, as you may have noticed. If you are new to San Diego, or live elsewhere, you may not be familiar with May Gray or June Gloom. Essentially, the weather patterns each Spring (combined in a very scientific way with the currents of the Pacific, which I cannot begin to explain) bring gray, overcast days to the Southern California coastline. It’s not exactly the prettiest time of year here, but there is hope if you were thinking of having family photos done! Don’t let our pesky marine layer get in the way.
I receive many requests for beach photo sessions, and while I absolutely adore the ocean and sand, this area has a great deal to offer inland as well! This time of year is perfect to explore those less-popular portrait spots, to take advantage of sunnier skies, fewer crowds, and for a unique twist on your family’s portraits. Whether you’re looking for a more wooded area, a secluded field full of wildflowers and grass, or an area with historic buildings, I can show you!
In other news, I recently returned from my East Coast tour. I take a trip annually to visit friends and clients throughout Virginia and Maryland (and sometimes beyond!). This last trip, I completed 14 sessions in just 6 days of shooting. I’ll have many sneak peeks to share with you in the coming weeks. It’s amazing to watch my “kids” grow up! I’m also looking forward to sharing some opportunities for workshops and photography mentorships, as well as business planning services. I’ve decided to take a new direction in that are of my business, and I’m really excited about it. More to come on that soon!
Now, a few teasers to whet your appetite. It’s going to be a great month!
