I don’t usually post a lot of black & white versions of my images, so this month’s blog circle is a bit of a challenge for me.
Our theme: Black & White.
Confession: I love color, and rarely favor a monochromatic image over a bright one. Over the last few weddings, I’ve really been stretching myself creatively to envision the black & white versions of an image while I compose. This was harder for me than I imagined, as color and vibrancy is such an important part of my style and vision. I won’t deny – there is a timeless beauty in some black and white images, so I can certainly see the appeal. With the right image, the conversion to black & white actually allows the viewer to focus on the emotion or moment captured, rather than find themselves distracted by color. It’s an interesting twist in my daily approach to my art. In fact, I hereby commit myself to shooting more FOR the purpose of presenting the images in monochrome – and branching out.
So here are a few of my ideas of black and whites…. and don’t forget to check out the next post in this month’s circle (link at the end of this post!)
