The first time I met Michelle and Corey last summer, I couldn’t help but think, “Man, these two are SO cute together!” And it’s true. They complement one another so well! They also told me that a dear friend of theirs back at home was taking their engagement photos, which turned out amazing, but when I had an urge to get out for a winter couples session, I knew I had to ask them if they wanted to model for me. (I admit: I couldn’t wait for the wedding to work with them!) I’m so glad that we spent this afternoon exploring Old Town Alexandria.
I am often asked why I love to work with couples. My honest answer: their happiness. We all want to be happy, and to share that joy with that special person. Even being a casual observer to that happiness shared by two people, it inspires me. (Too cliche? Let me explain.) Being a witness to that expression of love serves as a wonderful reminder when the day to day makes me forget about those early days with my husband. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but my husband and I have never had a portrait session with just the two of us. Unbelievable, right? I often wish that I had photos of the two of us from our engagement, or even from last week, to serve as a beautiful daily reminder of what we have. So, you might say I have literally made it my business to ensure that other couples have those portraits to celebrate their relationship. And though it may be cheesy, I truly believe that these types of sessions keep a relationship strong, whether you’re newly engaged, married for seven years (cough cough), or committed to one another for twenty. When was the last time you had an hour or two to just focus on your connection, and capture it?
Anyway, I’m getting ramble-y. I am so excited to photograph M + C’s wedding in April. The venue is gorgeous, and let’s be honest: we’re all ready for some Spring weather! Thank you for being willing and FUN models to work with!
I loooooove these!!!!!
