A wonderful opportunity | San Diego Wedding Photographer

And now for something I’ve been really excited to share with my friends and fans for awhile!

Most of my friends, fans and clients know that I’m a bag-girl.  I love my camera bags, and have more than I can count.  Some are pretty. Some are functional. Some are practical.  When I was presented with an opportunity to try out a new Lowepro bag, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed.  Through the years I’ve owned four or five of their bags, and they’ve always lived up to my expectations of sturdiness, practicality and durability.

The Event Messenger 250 was no exception to Lowepro’s high quality standard.  I shoot portraits as well as weddings and other events, and I’ve been on the lookout for a bag that could keep up with my needs, as well as be reliable, discreet, and rugged.  One of my favorite features of this bag has to be the hidden Velcro closures on the main flap.  I can open my bag and grab a piece of gear without the screeching tear of the Velcro interrupting the action or I can “reveal” the tabs for a more secure closure while I’m on the move. (There is also a safety clip.)  This is a feature I’ve been hoping to find in a bag for quite some time.

The size of the Event Messenger 250 was also ideal.  I’m a woman with a fairly small frame, so it’s important that I am not overwhelmed by the size of my bag and the weight of my gear. I need to move fast and fit into tight spaces.  This bag delivers.  I can get all the gear I need at my fingertips inside: a DSLR body with lens, an extra lens, Speedlight, triggers, and there is even a padded slot for my tablet or a small laptop.  An additional two pockets on the outside are great for water bottles, or even an extra flash or lens!  A zippered pocket has plenty of room for extra batteries, filters, a lens cloth, my wallet, cellphone and even a small pocket for an extra CF card or two.  The adjustable strap was perfect to wear cross-body or over my shoulder, and as usual, the customizable padded inserts make it easy to protect my gear.

I carried this bag for several hours on an urban shoot, and never did the strap or weight become uncomfortable.  That’s really important to me.  My wedding days can stretch into ten, twelve, or even eighteen hours long.  I don’t want to worry about my bag or feel dragged down.  The exterior material seems to hold up really well to abuse, and a little dirt will brush right off.  The appearance of the bag is simple, but modern and clean.  It’s perfect for events when I need to keep a low profile, or when I’m traveling and don’t necessarily want to advertise that I am carrying thousands of dollars of photographic equipment.   I certainly will be using this bag often in the future, and I am sure it will last me many years!

A huge shout-out to Andrea Garvin and Tracy Van Dam for the use of their photos of me using this incredible bag!
